A Legacy Remembered: The Life of Vernett Earl Rose
Vernett Earl Rose was born on June 27, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1972, he began a new chapter in Hartford, Connecticut—a city where he built lifelong relationships, made a profound contribution to his community, and left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Earl was a beloved and devoted member of the Sportsmen's Athletic Club, where his passion for cricket not only showcased his skill but also brought people together in friendship and joy. He achieved one of the most remarkable feats in club history: taking 9 consecutive wickets in a single game—a performance still talked about with admiration and pride. Yet beyond his athletic talent, it was Earl’s warmth, humor, and easy camaraderie that made him unforgettable.
During his funeral on November 22, 2025, he received a special induction into the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club Cricket Hall of Fame—a rare and heartfelt honor recognizing his exceptional impact, leadership, and unforgettable nine-wicket achievement. His absence will be deeply felt by teammates, supporters, friends, and loved ones. His spirit lives on in every shared story, every match played, and every bond strengthened by his presence.
